Peter Neal of Sherborne & District CPRE and Chairman of the Keep Sherborne Viable Group, handed over the town’s petition against Tesco’s proposals for a Sherborne superstore today. The 11,324 signature petition was presented to Cllr Robert Gould, Leader of West Dorset District Council, outside the Council’s new headquarters at South Walks House, Dorchester.
Several local Sherborne business owners also attended the presentation, supported by Rt Hon Oliver Letwin MP. Cllr Gould said “I am delighted to receive this petition, which has the largest number of signatures we have ever received at West Dorset District Council for a single campaign. I congratulate the organisers and fully support their efforts”.
